Cathodic Protection power supplies are becoming more common in certain industries to reduce costs associated with the corrosion of parts of plant or machinery that are exposed to environments where such corrosion is potentially hazardous, e.g.
Platform supports that immersed in salt water.
Cathodic protection works by passing a negative, electrical current into the structure to be protected and a positive electrical current to a ‘sacrificial’ anode.
These units are usually worked in a constant current mode to optimise the process as the anode is ‘eaten’ away.
Our rectifiers are ideally suited for this process as the constant current facility is a standard option on our units.
